The Story Behind Luces & Labios

I've always loved the sound of 1950s and 1960s rock and roll. Growing up, I admired artists like Elvis Presley and many of the classic performers who helped define that era. Eventually, I became curious about how that music was actually made, so I started studying the songwriting, arrangements, melodies, and recording techniques that gave those records their timeless character. What fascinated me most wasn't just the music itself it was the innocence of the lyrics. Many songs from that period told simple stories about love, heartbreak, devotion, longing, and hope. In today's world, some people might find those themes old-fashioned or even naive, but I think that's exactly what makes them special. There was a sincerity to those songs that still resonates decades later.

That fascination became the foundation for Luces & Labios. The project began with a song about a man mourning the loss of the woman he loves after she passes away and goes to heaven. Rather than focusing on tragedy alone, the song explores the universal feeling of missing someone and asking the impossible question:

"Why did you leave, my love?"

I've always tried to write songs in a way that allows listeners to connect their own experiences to the story. Even when the lyrics describe a specific situation, the emotions behind them are meant to feel familiar and relatable.

As the project evolved, I also began featuring Blitzy Goring, a fictional character interpreted by a longtime friend who preferred to remain anonymous. Blitzy became a recurring voice for female perspectives throughout several Becker Bot Music releases, helping expand the storytelling possibilities within the songs while preserving the mystery behind the character.

Musical Style

Luces & Labios is heavily inspired by classic American oldies, early rock and roll, doo-wop, and romantic pop music from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The songs feature warm melodies, vintage inspired arrangements, nostalgic harmonies, piano-driven rhythms, smooth vocal performances, and storytelling that places emotion above complexity. Rather than chasing modern trends, the goal was to capture the timeless feeling of hearing an old jukebox record spinning late at night in a diner. Many of the tracks embrace the simplicity that made oldies music so memorable: strong melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and emotions that listeners immediately understand.

One of my favorite songs on the EP is Flores Para Ti. The song was inspired by a habit I had during a previous relationship. I've always considered myself a detail oriented person, and whenever the occasion felt right, I would surprise my girlfriend with flowers. What stayed with me wasn't only her reaction, but the reactions of the people around us. I still remember neighbors smiling when they saw me carrying bouquets. One older woman even told me: "There aren't many men left who still bring flowers to their girlfriends."That simple comment stuck with me. In a world that often moves too fast, small gestures can sometimes mean more than grand declarations. Flores Para Ti became my way of celebrating those small acts of affection that can brighten someone's day and make a relationship feel special.

More than anything, Luces & Labios was an experiment in looking backward instead of forward. While many artists focus on modern sounds, I wanted to explore the emotional honesty and romantic spirit that made classic oldies music endure for generations. The result is a collection of songs inspired by timeless themes: love, loss, memories, devotion, nostalgia, and the little moments that people carry with them for years. for me, this EP was a reminder that good stories never go out of style.
