The Story Behind Groove Líquido

Groove Líquido was my attempt to explore disco from my own perspective, blending it with funk, indie pop, post-disco, boogie, and subtle electronic textures.

The project started with "Poner Límites," a song born during a time when both Flordmar and I, each in our own way, were learning to set boundaries with certain people and situations. Because of that, I decided to shape the song around some of her experiences, adapting the lyrics so the story could feel closer to what she was living.

This release also marked the debut of AP, a friend of both Flordmar and me, who appears on "Pasaporte." That track was built with subtle bass, indie pop textures, and Italo disco influences, imagined as the soundtrack for a nighttime road trip the kind where you watch the lights pass by while thinking about everything you've lived through.

Interestingly, Groove Líquido became one of my most criticized projects. Some people told me it didn't sound like disco in the traditional sense and compared it to artists or bands more directly associated with that style. But honestly, studying these genres and trying to reinterpret them through my own creative lens is not as easy as it looks.

Rather than copying an existing formula, I wanted to experiment.

Beyond genres and labels, Groove Líquido is about making firm decisions, recognizing your own value, and remembering that setting boundaries is also a form of self respect.
